Barratt Developments PLC 55th anniversary on the London Stock Exchange

Thank you to London Stock Exchange and Julia Hoggett for hosting us for Friday's market closing ceremony to mark Barratt Developments PLC 55th anniversary on the exchange and to mark the milestone with some of our key corporate stakeholders.

In 1968, 10 years after Sir Lawrie Barratt established the company we were building around 500 homes a year, with an annual turnover of around £800,000 – over £13 million today – and in November of that year, the company was floated on the London Stock Exchange.

It was reported at the time that the company's IPO was twenty times oversubscribed, and applications had to be "put into the hat"!

Fifty years on, we have grown to become Britain's largest housebuilder, delivering 17,000 homes and with a market cap of £4.8bn.
