As the country's leading national sustainable housebuilder, we want to build homes for nature too, so it was great to see government bring forward draft legislation this week that aims to boost biodiversity on every new development across the country.

The legislation, known as Biodiversity Net Gain or BNG, will mean all new developments, from all developers, will need to demonstrate that they will achieve at least a 10% increase in biodiversity from January next year.

This is not new to us – all of our new developments going through planning since January this year will deliver a measurable 10% gain in biodiversity, in most cases much more, creating great places for people to live and leaving our natural environment in a better state than it was before.
